Foreign buyers flood US real estate, but buy cheaper homes

The appetite for U.S. real estate continues to flourish, but international buyers are shifting their sights from luxury to less-pricey properties. This may be due to overall higher home prices, along with a stronger U.S. dollar, which both cost foreign buyers more at the negotiating table. There are also fewer nonresident foreigners investing in the market.

Thurston County Real Estate Market Sees Sales Increase | Published: 7/9/2016 | Homesnap Real...

The number of home sales in the Thurston County market climbed 3.3% to 437 homes over the last 30 days. To put it in perspective, close-by King County registered 3,431 home sales in the same period, the most of all surrounding counties. Potential buyers should note that prices are coming down in Thurston County, and for this period the median sales price slid from $268,000 to $263,000. Along with the increase in sales, the fact that there are a lower-than-normal two months of inventory indicates that Thurston County is a definite seller's market.

Thanks, Brexit! Why UK vote is likely to boost US home sales

The net effect will depend on location and price point, but overall, the Brexit will likely result in continuing growth in home sales with somewhat slower growth in home prices. The impact will benefit well-qualified buyers the most, and it will be a boon for sellers in affordable markets and price points.

Home sales are hot and prices are up as inventory dwindles in Pierce, Thurston counties

Blame the nice weather and the cockeyed optimism that accrues in an economic recovery. The real estate market is back. Sales are up, Inventory is down and the price of homes has increased. The Northwest Multiple Listing Service reported Thursday that the weather and restored confidence “are propelling home buying activity around Western Washington to the highest level in nearly a decade.” Buyers are hungry and the greatest impediment to greater sales is the lack of inventory, the agency said. Dick Beeson, principal managing broker at RE/MAX Professionals in Tacoma and a member of the NWMLS board of directors, stated that both buyers and sellers are frustrated, “but buyers will not be dissuaded. Sellers are frustrated because they can’t find replacement homes. Some won’t list their homes because of fear of not finding a suitable replacement.” Read more here: http://ift.tt/1Y8Lx16

Home Renovation Without Aggravation

Think 2016 might finally be the year to tackle that big home renovation project you’ve been putting off? Welcome to the club. Fueled largely by the rebounding housing market, home improvement spending is projected to reach $155 billion this year, surpassing the peak set in 2006, according to Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies. At the same time, the construction industry is in the throes of a massive labor shortage, having shed more than 2 million jobs since 2007.
